Greg Bowles gregb@island-fitness.com |
| Greg feels very strongly that yoga can be a positive tool for building strength, flexibility, and awareness, and enjoys providing the clear and inspiring guidance to help others do so.
Greg was mentored in his yoga practice by Iyengar-trained Theresa Elliot and Katherine Payne of Pacific Yoga in Seattle. With a corporate background and a degree in philosophy, Greg has a special blend of skills to complement his yoga certification. Greg went to college first overseas in Portugal and Germany through the University of Maryland while serving in the Navy as a CTR in those countries. Having completed his military service and an associates degree from the University of Maryland, Greg continued his pursuits of self study and philosophy at the University of Toledo. Greg has always gravitated toward individual sports and plays tennis, loves to swim and hike, run and bike, but also enjoys a good game of chess and almost any other activity that stimulates more “presence.” In fact, it is the tenets of self-mastery that brought Greg to yoga originally, and he prides himself on emphasizing present-moment mindfulness in each and every one of his yoga classes or private sessions, as he helps individuals dissolve both physical and mental limitations of fully experiencing the “now.” Greg starts with well placed intention first and a deeply connected action second to bring about transformation. He urges awareness before effort both in yoga and in life to remind us that a continued state of grace is a birth rite and one that we should not wait to reclaim. back to top |
