Gavin Dewitt, Fitness Director

Island Fitness is excited to announce that as of May 1st Gavin Dewitt has become our new Fitness Director. Gavin has grown with Island
Fitness since 2007 and possesses a unique blend of qualities and experience that make him perfect for the job. He brings enthusiasm and energy and will hit the ground running.

This position fills a great need at Island Fitness and will bring the departments of Fitness Consulting and Personal Training under unified oversight. There are many goals for the Fitness Director; not limited to, but key among them is fine tuning our consultations, helping trainers maintain full schedules, mentoring recent additions to our training staff and coordinating continuing education. Gavin is poised to lead us to the next levels and we're confident that this will be an exciting era of growth and realization of potential under his leadership.
 
A lifelong athlete and advocate of health and fitness, Gavin grew up on Bainbridge playing a variety of sports with a focus on baseball and football, competing in baseball at the international level. In college he continued playing baseball and earned degrees in Psychology and Philosophy from Central Washington University. He has coached various sports teams with an emphasis on mental as well as physical conditioning. Gavin focuses on helping individuals to believe in themselves by helping them to realize and exceed their own expectations. 

Gavin specializes in sports specific exercise to develop powerful and explosive yet well-balanced athletes. Through the use of functional movement training, Gavin works to improve all aspects of athletic movement and performance. Whether working with athletes or not, Gavin helps all his clients to excel by addressing their specific needs and then appropriately modifying their programs in order to maximize their potential.

Gavin is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is First Aid, AED, and CPR certified. Gavin specializes in sports specific exercise to develop powerful and explosive yet well-balanced athletes. Through the use of functional movement training, Gavin works to improve all aspects of athletic movement and performance. Whether working with athletes or not, Gavin helps all his clients to excel by addressing their specific needs and then appropriately modifying their programs in order to maximize their potential.

As Fitness Director, Gavin will lead our team of 20 personal trainers and fitness consultants. His focus is on elevating our staff credentials and assuring that we provide a unique and extraordinary exercise experience for members.
