Massage therapy is a second career for Jennifer, coming to the healing arts from a twenty-five year career as an award-winning artist, metal smith, and fine jewelry maker. She attributes her success in both fields to tenacity and attention to detail. She brings to the craft of massage her remarkably strong hands, and a keen understanding of anatomy and kinesiology, to which she applies compassion. Her interest in helping others comes from the belief that health is a spiritual function of form which sometimes needs a little nurturing and guidance from external sources.
Jennifer's techniques are honed from basic Swedish style massage, intuition, and the ability to feel soft tissue restrictions. She has studied various neuromuscular modalities, and is currently working towards certification in Active Isolated Stretching to promote a good balance between stretching, strengthening, and relaxation/restoration.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design from the University of Washington. Receiving a diploma from Port Townsend School of Massage in December of 2009, she has been licensed to practice in Washington State since February 2010, and has been employed as a therapist at Island Fitness for over five years.
