Many people ask the question. Many wonder, "What can I get from a personal trainer that I can't get from the health magazinesor from my workout partner?" Those approaches often lead to a lot of frustration, when people don't see the results that they had hoped for. Weight training and aerobic training, when done properly, lead a person to looking and feeling great. Unfortunately, when they are done incorrectly, they can lead to disappointment and injury.

Training with a personal trainer gives you many different advantages:

Knowledge

All personal trainers must be certified. This means that they have demonstrated that they know enough about training principles to receive a certification to train other individuals. Certification requires continuing education and ongoing practice of the principles. What this means to you, the client, is that you now have that knowledge working for you!

Proper technique

It's common in a gym to see people using improper technique and poor form. Not only does this lead to less-than-desired results; it also leads to injury. By training with a professional, you ensure that you're doing your exercises properly,and getting the best results with none of the injuries.

Personalization

One of the big advantages to personal training is that the trainer develops a program specifically for you and your goals. Sure, you can get a program out of a magazine or the internet, but is it the right one for you?Is it going to get you to your goals? Is it going to change when you need it to? Does it answer all your questions regarding the program? Rmember, following a generic workout plan can actually be detrimental to you. By using a personal trainer you get a personalized program and all your questions answered when they arise.

You must enjoy working out. When you have fun, not only are you more motivated , but you achieve your fitness goals! Many of our new clients' first complaint is that they find training boring. Once we show them some fun new ways to exercise, rather than the same old staple programs, they start seeing results and enjoying it!

PERSONAL TRAINING POLICIES

PAR-Q & Medical Clearance
All personal training clients are required to complete a PAR-Q form, a health history, and have a fitness assessment conducted by a fitness consultant at Island Fitness. A physician's clearance form may be required of participants who answer 'yes' to any of the seven PAR-Q questions. Personal training staff reserves the right to require medical clearance from any client they feel may be at risk.

Late Policy
Clients are responsible for arriving on time to their training sessions. Trainers are obligated to wait only 15 minutes (10 minutes for 30-minute sessions). After 15 minutes (10 minutes), the trainer is not required to lead the remaining time of the session and the session may be lost.

Cancellation Policy
Clients are asked to call a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the scheduled training session in order to cancel. Except in the event of a medical emergency, you will be charged for appointments cancelled with fewer than 24 hours notice. Failure to contact your trainer and call will result in a session loss.

Package Expiration/Refund Policy
Individuals participating in personal training must complete all personal training sessions by the expiration of the client's current Island Fitness membership or by the expiration date of the training package, whichever comes first. All personal training packages expire twelve (12) months from the date of purchase. All packages are non-refundable.

Assigned Trainers
Island Fitness reserves the right to change the trainer initially assigned to the member.
