Island Fitness COVID-19 Update

We’re very appreciative of your partnership in deterring the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We know that some of you are frightened. We hope to shed some light to ease your anxiety.

In this rapidly changing dynamic around the outbreak we want to share resources, remind you of the steps that we’re taking to keep you safe, and remind you of steps that you can take to stay healthy.

We remain committed to the health and well-being of our members and employees. As things change day to day or even hour to hour, we continue to closely monitor updates from officials and experts.

  • Try to stay calm, educate yourself and act according to facts.

  • If you think you may have symptoms of COVID-19, follow these guidelines.

If you’re worried about coming to Island Fitness, read these recent articles: Should You Avoid the Gym, Is It Safe To Go to the Gym, or Gyms and Coronavirus. Please know that we are:

  • washing our hands often;

  • wiping down surfaces multiple times each day with antiviral cleaner;

  • insisting that our staff and members do not come to the club if they are coughing, sneezing, or sick in any way, out of an abundance of caution; an action which could result in last-minute class cancellations.

As always, in times like these, please stay home if your health is in any way compromised. This is your best protection.

It is important to understand how COVID-19 spreads.

As this is a community effort, in order to ease your mind, we are suggesting that you:

  • consider wearing latex gloves;

  • consider bringing your own mat;

  • wipe down equipment before and after use.

Educate yourselves. Here are some great resources:

We are aware of how challenging and overwhelming this is for many of you. Continue to support your immune system with tips from our previous letter, exercise and/or massage, and know that we are here for you.

To our collective good health.

Michael, Alexa and the entire Island Fitness staff.
