Where’s Your Focus?

It has felt so hard to know how and what to focus on during this pandemic. Many of us find ourselves at home with lots of unstructured time that creates challenges. Or maybe you are having to work from home and finding it hard to separate that time and space. Add on top of that the constant stream of worry about finances and health and it can feel overwhelming.

Here’s a few things you can do to help you refocus and stay positive.

  • Narrow your range of focus. Try choosing 3 goals for the day or week that keep you healthy. Example: Turn off all screens 2 hours before bedtime, get 20 min of cardio and 20 minutes of body weight exercises in, give my elderly neighbor a call and see if he needs anything.

  • Have a goofy movie night or two! Laughter is so important. So, find your favorite comedy and watch it!!

  • Have a list ready of simple things you do that make you happy. For me, this is blasting music and dancing around my house, taking my dog out for a walk, reading a book in my pajamas or watching Mama Mia, Hairspray or other Musicals…when you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or down…do one or more of the things from this list!

  • Connect with someone positive and encouraging often via phone, zoom or text during this time.

  • Exercise! Exercise releases endorphins which can help you feel more positive, less stressed and can even help you sleep better!

  • Meditate. There are many easy apps out there to help you with this. Meditation is a great way to get clarity on what specifically is causing you stress or anxiety and allows your mind and body to reconnect.

Stay safe and healthy and let us know how we can help support YOU!
